Maddy is Five Months

Well, its true! I have a five month old baby girl.  I just can't believe that she is already five months old... you know that is only one month away from being a half of a year old!  This is crazy stuff!  Anyways... with every month I just think she gets cuter and cuter and I just love her that much more!  When will this stop?  I know it won't go on forever, but I will enjoy it while it last.
I've been lucky to have had the chance to spend so much time with Maddy girl as she has made her journey to being five months. (I LOVE SUMMER! I like my job, but I like staying home with my baby girl more.  Conflicts b/w my heart and the pocket book on a later date... maybe.)
We have been very busy this summer.  We have gone swimming, played with friends, and have gone to the Library for Baby Bounce.  Maddy has also helped mommy work on her summer to do list as well.

New Tricks
  • Inching - I guess I can't call it scooting yet, but she is moving from one side of her play mat to the other some how.
  • Playing with toys - Maddy picks up toys now with one hand and switches them between both of her hands.
  • Laughing loud - this has been caught a few times, she just cracks up when we are silly for her.
DRUM ROLL PLEASE...  our best trick yet...
  • Eating Food!

Carrots
After Maddy turned four months and once the summer began we started feeding her solids (well more like solids we make into mush.) We have been making her own baby food... well I have been making baby food.  We received a very nice baby gift, a Beaba Babycook.  Once researching this baby cooker, I decided that we must make her own baby food.  I did my research and came up with our very own plan and schedule for introducing foods to her.  We started with rice cereal like the doctor says, but I quickly became board with it and I think Maddy did too.  After two days we were on to bigger and better things.  Avocado  was her first food. Since then she has eaten green beans, peas, squash, carrots and as of today sweet potatoes.  So far she loves it all!  I enjoy making her food for her.  It is super easy and fun! After we try everything then I will get to be creative with mixing things.

At the end of the week we are off to Missouri, to the Lake of the Ozarks! I'm sure there will be lots of exciting pictures and stories about our experiences once we return.

Happy Father's Day!

Yesterday was Brandon's first Father's Day!  We began our day like every other Sunday morning by getting ready for mass. Maddy and daddy also had some time to play.  Maddy and I gave Brandon his gift before we left for church.  We got him a Weber grill.  We already have a gas grill, but Brandon had mentioned before how he wanted a charcoal grill. So, I did my research and tried to find a good deal. He was very excited and surprised about his new grill.
We meet by parents at mass as we do most Sundays.  Maddy was a good girl as always. We surprised the dads for lunch by going to Trio's Steakhouse.  They have great food and a nice relaxing atmosphere. My dad and Brandon were excited about me and my mom's choice. (Well, as excited as men can get.) Maddy got lots of attention from the pretty girls who worked there.  She also got some special attention from a nice old Irish lady, who was very fond of her red hair and green dress! Brandon, my mom, and I got my dad a skydiving trip.  Brandon has a voucher to go and has been talking my dad into going with him.  Well, now I guess he has no choice!
The first Father's Day was a little exciting, even though I'm not the father.  I think it will be more fun as Maddy gets older and can really make things for her daddy.  She is already showing signs of being a "Daddy's Girl"  and if she is anything like her mother she will be. Here are some pics from lunch and of our little very unprofessional photo shoot at Vintage Park...

Memorial Day Weekend

A little late, but I can't start summer blogging until I post about Memorial Day weekend.  Here is our weekend in pictures...

The Lake
This was Maddy's first overnight trip and first trip to her Nana's lake house on Lake Livingston.  Maddy did great and had lots of fun!  This was just a little practice for our big lake trip to the Ozarks!

Time to Meet Brynlee
My friend Corie and her family came to Houston so Brynlee could get baptized in their family church.  We first went to Brynlee's baptism party and then meet for lunch the next day.  Corie and I were very excited to finally meet each others baby girls.  This was also the first time the best friend trio could have their baby girls together!

Four & More

Maddy is 4 months old!

Its crazy, but true!  Maddy turned four months this past Wednesday, May 25.  We went for her four month check up and the doc said she is progressing right along.  The nurse was very impressed with all of her skills. Here are her 4 month stats:
Height: 24 1/4 inches  52%
Weight: 12lbs. 15oz. 35%
Head: 15.75 24%
After looking at the numbers in really seems like she has a small head, but it really doesn't look that way.  She is average for height and a little small for her weight.  Her hair is still looking red and hasn't all fallen out.  Hopefully she won't go bald. I feel like she is teething, but teeth haven't popped in yet.

New Tricks

Maddy is able to roll over from her back to her stomach and stomach to back.  She loves to play on the floor on her stomach and sort of scoot.  She sits comfortably in her Bumbo seat.  Last weekend we put her Excer Saucer  together and it is her new favorite thing to do.  There are so many gadgets and things for her to play with.  Another developing skill is her talking.  She is often caught babbling away to her butterfly friend on her car seat or her Wubba Nub giraffe. She carries on full conversations with them. She is officially a belly sleeper.  No more "back to sleep" for Maddy girl.  I was a little nervous at first, but she has really good head control and lifts her neck and head very far off the ground when she is laying on her stomach. Oh... one more thing... she has grabbed her bottle with both hands a few times to hold it.  This skill is still developing.  I know she has many more tricks up her sleeve before she turns 5 months!!!

We are so blessed to have such a beautiful baby girl!  Sometimes I have to make sure I'm not dreaming and just take it all in.
p.s. I want a personalized blog lay out.  I'm really new at this and just don't have time now to figure it out on my own.  I need a designer, so if you know how let me know.

So Lucky to be a Mommy!

1st Mother's Day
Today I got to celebrate my first Mother's Day!  The whole day I just kept thinking how lucky I am to be a mom and how blessed I am to have such a precious little baby girl.  Of course I couldn't be a  mom without having a mom, which lead me to thinking about how lucky and blessed I am to have my  mom.
We had a great day.  We went to church this morning at 10:45 like we do most every Sunday.  Except for today we had mass in the Mary Chapel.  (Our church is upgrading and expanding our main Church.)  Another special thing about going to church today was that we were asked to bring up the offertory. Usually for practicing Catholics, not a big deal, but it was Maddy's first time.  All five of us were able to walk up.
After mass we went to Mia Bella's in Vintage Park.  We decided to do a big Mother's Day lunch with both sides of our family.  So, we had  a big group.  This way we were able to be with both our moms to celebrate all of us.  Lunch was good, but I was a little sad it was buffet style.  Bottomless mimosas made it better!
We gave Brandon's mom perfume. And we gave my mom Yellow Box flip flops and an owl Pandora charm.  I made home made cards for both of our moms the best part was Maddy signed the cards with her hand print.
Brandon and Maddy gave me a very sweet card and a pair of diamond earrings.
We then spent the rest of the afternoon hanging out at home... Maddy and I had a nap together for the recliner.  Oh how I miss those days!!!

Three Months of JOY

Maddy's 3rd Month

Wow!  I can't believe it has been three months since my little Madelyn was born.  In a way it seems like just yesterday I was big, pregnant and nesting and on the other hand I feel like she's always been here with us.
It has been a while since I have blogged, so I feel like there is lots to catch up on.  Hmmm... that sounds a little familiar of all areas in my life right now.  I feel like I'm always catching up on things, which is usually not me and something that really bugs me. We've been so busy experiencing life and making memories with Maddy I hardly have time to document them all.

March 19
"A New Child of God"  -Madelyn's Baptism

Maddy's baptism is one of my favorite memories with her.  Lots of our family and friends joined us on the day to witness and celebrate her baptism with us.  My family traveled from Louisiana for the weekend to see her baptism.  My best friend from Austin came down, too.  As we were planning for her big day I really didn't think to hard about it.  I invited family and close friends to join us, but it didn't seem like a lot at the time.  I just thought these are the people that I would naturally send a personal invitation to. As you know, the sacrament of baptism and any sacrament is open to the community to join and be a part of.  Maddy is so lucky to have some awesome Godparents.  Her Godmother is my Aunt Mary aka Nanny Mary, who happens to be my Godmother as well.  Her Godfather is my long time very good friend Jeff.  Its exciting for Maddy to have a Godfather who is in the Seminary to be a priest.  When it was our turn for Maddy to have her Holy dunking the Deacon had to pause for a bit.  It took a little while for everyone to walk up to see her.  It looked like a crowd standing across from the fountain.  Everyone was there just to see Maddy be baptized.  I was in awww at the time.  I couldn't believe how much love was standing there to witness her initiation into the Catholic faith.  After the baptism we had a lunch at our house.  It was lots of fun for everyone to hold, feed and play with Maddy.

At Home with Maddy
Before going back to work I tried to soak up all of my time with my baby girl.  I absolutely loved staying home with her.  We did lots of things together while I was staying home.  We kept very busy.  We watched tv, went shopping and ran errands and went to lunch. Our last day together we went to lunch with Bevy.

Mommy Went Back to Work
I was so anxious and dreading going back to work.  When the actual day came it really wasn't that bad. I missed my baby girl so much and would think about her cute little faces and her new smile all day at work.  Even though I was sad not to be with her all day, I knew she would be in great hands.  We have the best most wonderful babysitter ever.  We are so lucky and blessed to have Reasa watching Maddy.  My first day back I felt comfortable and I was so calm because I knew Maddy was being taken care of just like I would or maybe even better.  Its great because Maddy is around another baby her same age, Rilyn, Reasa's baby girl.  She also has a toddler friend, too.  As you can see from the pictures Maddy is having lots of fun at Reasa's!

I'm sure there is lots more to reflect on and I would love to tell you about Maddy's first Easter, but I have lots of other things to catch up on too.  Here are some of my favorite pictures from this past month with Maddy!
